Position summary

Department Administrator (Job Opening 456027) - Administrator a?? Medical Center serves as the Department Administrator for the Department of Radiology, as well as for its clinical practice plan (LLC); directs, leads, and oversees all business, educational, research, clinical, and administrative operations of the academic department and physician clinical practice with full oversight and accountability for a total budget of over $40 million and 150+ faculty and staff; works with the Department Chair to visualize, develop, and implement strategic plans, innovative initiatives, and long-term goals and objectives to support the mission of the department and ensure the growth and success of the department; develops, oversees, and administers departmental governance policy and procedures; oversees fiscal, human resource, and space and facilities management activities; ensures effective and efficient administrative procedures with a constant goal of process improvement; regulates and ensures continuity of established business operations; plans, determines, and prepares annual operating budgets including projections of revenues and expenses; leads, directs, and oversees negotiations and management of contracts and affiliation agreements; monitors and ensures sound financial management; oversees patient accounting and charge operations for the LLC to optimize billing and collections; collaborates with Chair and departmental clinical faculty in developing and establishing clinical practice programs and strategies; conceptualizes and develops business plans for new programs or services; advises Chair in developing compensation and productivity models to support recruitment, retention, and productivity for faculty and staff; monitors, identifies, and acts to ensure patient satisfaction at Department and Medical Center stated levels; monitors and acts to reduce risk regarding HIPAA, billing compliance, business liability, and medical malpractice.

Education and experience

Mastera??s Degree in business administration, health services management and policy, finance, human resources, public health or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; extensive experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity in a health care setting required, preferably in an academic medical center; experience managing a large program, department or section preferred; experience in a supervisory capacity strongly preferred; knowledge of University and/or departmental policies, rules and regulations preferred; considerable knowledge of accounting principles and applications required; experience and/or knowledge of a research environment strongly desired; experience in grants m
