Position summary

Post Doctoral Researcher (Job Opening 430568) - Post Doctoral Researcher to work on a recently developed human heart research project targeting the development of new patient-specific antiarrhythmic treatment and to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology; plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the study of the role of cytoskeleton and signaling in the biogenesis and progression of heart disease and arrhythmia; collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH), as well as by other agencies; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding.

Education and experience

Doctoral degree in a biological or health sciences field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; Experience in cardiovascular research, including lipid and metabolic disorders desired; experience in in cell signaling pathways and prior training in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology is strongly preferred; scientific publication record desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
