Position summary

Post Doctoral Researcher (Job Opening 442034) - Post doctoral researcher to pursue specialized research training by conducting independent research under the guidance Dr. Kirschner to characterize the functional and molecular changes associated with mouse models of human development and tumorigenesis within a research laboratory in the Comprehensive Cancer Center; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods to achieve the characterization of the genetic and molecular basis of mouse models of human cancers; identifies novel genes and assesses role in cancer development; generates and analyzes new genetically engineered mouse models for human cancers; conducts analysis of changes in gene copy and mRNA or protein expression, gene cloning, mutation detection, studies of genetic interactions affecting carcinogenesis; isolates cells from in vivo models to produce primary cultures; performs correlative in vitro studies using appropriate primary or established cell lines to analyze signaling pathways related to tumorigenesis and development; provides expertise/assistance in the use of these techniques to co-workers; assists with mentoring and teaching of graduate and undergraduate students; assists in ordering supplies and maintaining lab inventory; assists with analysis of data for reports/publications; writes manuscripts/reports for publication; applies for internal or external fellowship training grants.

Education and experience

Doctoral degree required. Experience with in vivo/in vitro models of cancer desired. Experience with animal colonies desired. Requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
