Position summary

Research Assistant 1-B/H (Job Opening 445528) - Research Assistant 1-B/H to assist and provide support of fundamental research in chromosome dynamics and gene regulation as directed in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology; conducts planned research activities using quantitative biochemical assays and biophysical analysis; prepares biochemical solutions and tissue culture reagents for scientific experiments; designs and performs molecular biology experiments; maintains and sorts cellular samples; records and consolidates research data; assists with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigator; requests, tests and evaluates new reagents; researches current scientific literature on specified topics; participates departmental seminars and lab meetings; assists with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment; calibrates various laboratory equipment and operates microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assists with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies.

Education and experience

A Bachelors degree in a chemistry, biophysics, biological science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
