Position summary

Research Associate 1-B/H (Job Opening 446144) - Research Associate 1-B/H participates in design, execution, and management of research projects in a basic science research laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience to investigate the brain lipid metabolism and signaling pathways in aging and Alzheimer's disease; will work closely with the principle investigator, and assist in general laboratory management and participate in development and implementation of research projects;coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of graduate, undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff; oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; maintain mouse colonies and execute in vivo pharmacology studies; designs and executes complex molecular and cell biology experiments as instructed; collect, analyzes and interpret research data; assist with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents; perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and experience

Master's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Additional experiences in lab management, molecular and cell biology, and in vivo pharmacology is preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
