Position summary

Research Assistant 1-B/H (Job Opening 447735) - Research Assistant 1-B/H to conduct research studies, data collection, and analysis related to the immunological basis of neurological diseases under the direction of the principal investigator (PI) within the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences; performs techniques including cell isolation, flow cytometry, tissue culture, RNA isolation, PCR and RT-PCR; organizes research experiments; collects and analyzes data to prepare reports inclusive of graphs, tables and photographs; collaborates and interacts with other research staff; serves as resource for less experienced research personnel; maintains and prepares laboratory stocks of chemicals, reagents and consumables.

Education and experience

Bachelors degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required; previous experience in a biological/health research capacity is desired; previous lab experience with tests on small animals, molecular biology and other biological techniques is desired; skilled in the analysis of scientific data using computer software, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Photoshop, and statistical software desired; requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
