Position summary

Post Doctoral Researcher (Job Opening 450023) - Post doctoral researcher to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Comprehensive Cancer Center. S/he will conduct research to characterize changes in organismal and cellular metabolism in response to dietary regiments and interventions, as well as characterize metabolic changes during cancer initiation and progression; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods to achieve characterization of cellular and organismal metabolic states; identifies novel genes and pathways and examines their role in cancer development and progression; utilizes gain and loss of function approaches in cell culture, organoids and mouse models; participates in analyzing data for reports for the purpose of grants submissions; prepares seminars, posters, formal presentations, primary research manuscripts, scientific reviews and book chapters; opportunities to present at intramural symposiums and international scientific meetings; trains staff in molecular biology techniques; maintains portions of mouse colony for their projects; performs basic lab duties; carries out and integrates multi-pronged and interdisciplinary approaches in established cell lines, primary cell lines and mouse models of disease.

Education and experience

A Doctoral degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related disciplines is required. Strong analytical skills and expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology techniques desired, Experience with mouse work and mammalian cell culture techniques are preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
