Position summary

Research Assistant 1-B/H (Job Opening 451927) - Research Assistant 1-B/H to assist and provide support of research studies in mRNA translation and human disease as directed in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology in the laboratory of Professor Michael Kearse (www.kearselab.org); conducts planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques for his/her own project; prepares solutions and live culture media for scientific experiments; performs a variety of assays and experimental tests; collects, sorts and processes samples; records and consolidates research data; assists with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigator; researches current scientific literature on specified topics; assists with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment; calibrates various laboratory equipment and operates microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assists with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies.

Education and experience

A Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
