Position summary

Research Scientist (Job Opening 452675) - Research Scientist to function as a Biostatistical Scientist collaborating with biomedical investigators in planning clinical trials and/or population health research studies by ensuring compliance to statistical principles when designing experiments or observational studies; develops hypothesis testing strategies and modeling biological observations; designs efficient trials and experiments, (including calculation and determination of sample size); collaborates with biomedical investigators in planning, writing and preparing biostatistical sections of research proposals, manuscripts, articles and abstracts; identifies or develops new statistical methods which requires programming of computer-intensive statistical methods; serves as principal investigator on OSU grants and sub-contracts, as well as on statistical methodology proposals; obtains a significant amount of funding in support of salary; writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals; attends and presents at national and international conferences and workshops.

Education and experience

Extensive experience as a biostatistician required; additional coursework in epidemiology, public health, biology, or medicine is desired; experience managing large databases and utilizing statistical software packages preferred; experience preparing grant applications, writing research papers, and consulting in a collaborative research environment desired; demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher as evidenced by favorable reviews, by citation in the work of others, by presentations of papers to professional societies, and/or will have contributed inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important applied problems required.
