Research Associate 2-B/H (Job Opening 454144) - Research Associate 2-B/H designs and executes research projects employing liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) sample analysis in the Pharmacoanalytical Shared Resource (PhASR) in the Comprehensive Cancer Center; plans and executes molecular biological and biochemical procedures related to the generation and validation of LC-MS/MS assays and data; plans, coordinates and oversees processing of data; analyzes and interprets research data; develops and implements new and/or revised research methodology and techniques; plans and tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods; develops and establishes research controls, criteria and standards; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research; writes and prepares progress reports and other documents for publication & presentation; attends workshops & seminars; assists with preparation of data for grant proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; participates in developing project quotes and monitors expenses and budgets; monitors and enforces laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, and local, state and federal regulations, including proper disposal and maintenance of regulated materials; trains and/or supervises research staff; oversees and initiates procurement of lab supplies & equipment; negotiates and oversees equipment service contracts & repairs.
Education and experience
A Masters degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Considerable experience in a biological/health research capacity is required. Experience in the use of analytical assays to generate quantitative data is desired. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
