Position summary

Post Doctoral Scholar (Job Opening 456056) - Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in a research laboratory within the Department of Neurosurgery; collaborates, designs and conducts research on cognitive and neurophysiological processes in the basal ganglia and temporal lobe related to decision making in patients with Parkinson's disease and epilepsy under the guidance of a faculty mentor; the postdoctoral researcher participates in research activities; performs analysis of data and prepares results of research for publication; actively participates in the recruitment and interview of prospective study participants; plans and designs research to test hypotheses; creates stimulus materials and performs testing of human subjects; assists PI with grant proposals to obtain outside funding from state and federal agencies; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods.

Education and experience

Ph.D in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, cognitive science, physics, applied mathematics or related program. Required skills: strong computer skills required. Experience with analysis and design of fMRI experiments and data preferred, experience with analysis of neurophysiological data including multiunit extracellular recordings and local field potentials required. A strong computational psychology background is preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
