Position summary

Student Assistant (Job Opening 456257) - Scope of Position JamesCare for Life (JCFL) provides a broad range of educational outreach and supportive services for oncology patients, caregivers, families and the community, including education classes, support groups, nutrition programs, exercise, art and music therapy. This position primarily will be working in the Garden of Hope for the JCFL Survivorship Office. The Garden of Hope is located at Ohio State?s Waterman Farm, 2490 Carmack Road, just northwest of the intersection of Kenny Road and Lane Avenue. The Garden of Hope is a community garden for cancer survivors and their families. Position Summary Duties include planting, pulling weeds, trimming plants, and general upkeep or maintenance of the garden. Greet, register, and assist participants with harvesting produce, provide information and fellowship to participants. This position will also assist with the administrative needs for the department (which is located at 4049 W. Dublin-Granville Rd., Dublin) as well as provide assistance during events, classes, conferences, etc. Must have demonstrated experience in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Administrative duties include registering participants for classes, events, and support groups, sending out reminders to participants, maintaining and updating the participant database, distributing and collecting class participant sign-in sheets and evaluations and recording statistical data from the information provided, answering phones, covering front desk, creating flyers for each program, and assisting with other general office duties and projects. Will also assist with programs, as needed, including setting up and tearing down and greeting and checking-in participants.

Education and experience

Currently enrolled at The Ohio State University or another Central Ohio college or university.
