The Assistant Sous Chef (406804) is a member of the food production team that supports patient and retail food services for the medical center. Position Summary :  Under the supervision of a Manager 3, the Asst. Sous Chef is responsible for the preparation of foods in support of patient and retail food operations.  The ASC operates as part of a culinary team and is responsible for the complete knowledge of food preparation, presentation and applicable food code for their service area.  Asst Sous Chef utilizes advanced understanding of food preparation techniques, garnishing, equipment operation and time management to meet service demands.  Demonstrates the medical center values in their interactions with patients, customers, and staff and displays professional conduct at all times.

Education and experience

8th grade plus; ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers and to read and write common vocabulary plus; 600 hours training or 6 months experience in the use of kitchen equipment; 600 hours training or 6 months experience in food prep and storage. Upon completion of probationary period, must successfully pass specialized, title specific training from the Culinary Program of America. Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts; ServSafe certified or other equivalent. OR Completion of a 6 months or 1 year internship as an Assist Sous Chef intern. Must successfully pass specialized testing for Assist Sous Chef position for permanent placement in position. Desired: Previous Assistant Sous Chef experience; preferably in a hospital setting.
