Position summary

Assist Dir-Environmental Svcs (Job Opening 427621) - Scope of Position The OSU Wexner Medical Center (WMC), James Cancer Hospital Environmental Services (EVS) Department plays a critical role in safety and cleanliness of the hospital; maintaining an environment with a low pathogenic burden is essential for avoiding complications during the care, treatment and recuperation of patients. A healthy, safe, and aesthetically pleasing space is comforting to our patients and their families by giving an impression of good quality care and overall healing environment without additional health hazards. The 21 story James Cancer Hospital encompassing over 900,000 cleanable square-footage and includes 276 acute care beds, 72 critical care beds, 152 outpatient exam rooms, 40 infusion stations, 16 clinical trial stations, 12 Apheresis beds, 18 operating rooms and Emergency Department (106 rooms with16 dedicated to oncology patients). Annual hospital admissions is 12,500, outpatient and clinic patient visits is 380,000, surgeries is 8,500, and total OSUWMC Emergency Department patient visits is over 68,000. Position Summary The Environmental Services Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing training programs for The James Environmental Services? (EVS) workforce, including Custodial Workers and Management staff; and identifing, directs and coordinates on-going continuing staff education programs and leadership development training. This position also develops, coordinates and promotes staff mentoring and recognition programs; and provides departmental over-site for the quality control, compliance, staff evaluation and patient experience programs, and collaborates with OSUWMC Human Resources Department on staff recruitment and retention activities.

Education and experience

A Bachelor?s degree or equivalent education or certification and combination of experience. Three years Facilities operational management (Healthcare / Training environment preferred); Considerable knowledge of customer service and team building required; Knowledge of regulatory standards; Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; and excellent organizational skills.
