Position summary

Director-Sports Medicine (Job Opening 429534) - Serves as the Director of the Sports Medicine Research Institute (the Institute); directs, leads and oversees all business, educational, research, and administrative operations of the institute with full oversight and accountability for a total budget of over $6.6 mil, and 11 staff members; works with Associate Executive Director to visualize, develop, and implement strategic plans, innovative initiatives and long-term goals and objectives to support the mission the Institute,  and ensure the growth and success of the Institute: develops, oversees and administers governance policy and procedures; develops and tracks metrics; oversee fiscal, human resources, and space and facilities management activities; ensures effective and efficient administrative procedures with a constant goal of process improvement; regulates and ensures continuity of established business operations; serves as a liason for internal and extern collaborating entities;  plans, determines and prepares annual operating and capital budgets including projections of revenues and expenses; leads, directs and oversees negotiations and management of contracts and affiliation agreements; monitors and ensures sound financial management; conceptualizes and develops business plans for new programs or services; works with Associate Executive Director in to support recruitment, retention and productivity of staff; actively participates with Outreach and Marketing to increase the Institute's reputation locally, regionally and nationally; actively participates with Development to increase endowment funding for the Institute, and in donor cultivation and stewardship; identifies  and develops managers and staff; leads and participates in  good working relationships inside and outside the medical center; and all other matters as directed by the Associate Executive Director

Education and experience

Bachelors degree in health care administration, business administration, research or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; Master's degree desired; considerable experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity required, preferably in a healthcare environment; strategic and long-range planning experience required; reasonable knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications preferred.  Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
