Nurse Manager (Job Opening 424419) - Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Medical Center?s mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, teaching and research. The Nurse Manager leads a team of care providers cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient?s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs. Under the manager?s leadership patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Position Summary
Nurse Manager who will have 24 hour responsibility for the overall planning, organization, direction and evaluation of patient care operations for a designated area(s) and is key in operationalizing the Medical Center?s mission, values and goals and creates an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model; leads a team of health care professionals that provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient?s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs; manages, guides, coaches, and evaluates work performance of patient care staff in their designated areas; ensures ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services.

Education and experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program required;  Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred;  current license as a registered nurse from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing required.  Knowledge of complexity of patient care required, prior demonstration of leadership and management skills.
