Position summary

Assistant Nurse Manager (Job Opening 435494) - Scope of Position The Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager in the operational functions of the Patient Care Unit. The Assistant Nurse Manager ensures that all patient and staff related objectives are met. The Assistant Nurse Manager facilitates the provision of comprehensive and individualized nursing care through effective utilization of the unique abilities and preparation of each staff member. This includes but is not limited to managing, guiding, coaching, counseling and evaluating the work performance of nursing staff as delegated by the Nurse Manager. The Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing of the quality of care our patients receive. Position Summary The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager in the overall planning, directing and evaluating the activities of the unit staff. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager assumes total responsibility on a twenty-four hour basis. The Assistant Manager works with the Perioperative Director, Support Service Managers, Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and Information Associate, evaluating the flow of patient care in the perioperative areas, trouble-shooting areas of the unit which need improvement and implementing changes. The Assistant Manager works with the Perioperative Department staff development coordinators to coordinate staff orientation and education. The Assistant Nurse Manger may also act as charge nurse and provide direct patient care when needed.

Education and experience

Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree obtained from and accredited school of nursing. License to practice professional nursing in the state of Ohio. Experience in an acute care setting required.
