Position summary

Administrative Nursing Sup (Job Opening 438247) - This position manages Intake, Triage and Placement operations within The Ohio State University Hospitals M - F during the day shift as well as during off-shift, week-end and holiday hours. The hours of this position vary to cover Clinical Transfer Center and Coordination of Patient Placement around the clock, including weekends and holidays. The Administrative Nursing Supervisor is responsible for enforcing hospital, nursing and medical policies and procedures. The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. In areas of emphasis, this position manages Patient Access and Throughput functions (Intake, Triage and Placement) throughout the Ohio State University Hospital. The ANS receives and manages the referrals of patients from both internal and external sources and facilitates assignment of patients based on clinical needs. The ANS collaborates with the Medical Director to assure timely access and safe, appropriate allocation of patients to clinical areas. The ANS directs clinical placement of all patients during a given tour of duty, which includes making rounds to affected patient care areas, communicating information regarding patients assigned, obtaining report from charge nurses and key medical staff, and staying knowledgeable of current patient status and capacity. Assigns patients to clinical areas. Supervises personnel of the nursing department on duty and contributes to evaluation of nursing personnel. Facilitates effective operation by supervising clinical coordination activities with those of related departments, acts as liaison to The James Cancer Hospital & Research Institute. Provides timely, regular information to medical, nursing, and administrative staff related to issues of capacity and utilization.

Education and experience

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Ohio licensure. Progressively responsible hospital nursing experience in administration, and supervision. BSN required.
