Position summary

Clinical Instructor (Job Opening 425724) - Clinical Instructor faculty position to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses within the Health Information Management & Systems (HIMS) Division in the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences; advises undergraduate students in the HIMS program and HIMS student organization; oversees professional practice experience curriculum including student placement and evaluation; manages recruitment and admissions of prospective students; participates in website development and maintenance; orients incoming students; coordinates the evaluation and continuous quality improvement of division curriculum to comply with curricular competencies, CAHIIM accreditation, and university outcomes assessment requirements; assists with course and division event logistics planning; oversees alumni relations.

Education and experience

Mastera's degree or equivalent education and experience required; evidence of strong teaching ability; RHIA certification; working knowledge of health information management practice; ability to mentor/counsel students in this field; knowledge of Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.  Active professional involvement at the local, state, district, and/or national levels desired. Technical writing and research experience desired as well as familiarity with curricular competencies and CAHIIM accreditation requirements.  Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
