Experience and Interests

For 36 years, I was a US Navy nurse at the Naval Hospital Health Care System in Corpus Christi, Texas. I went on to be the director of masters programs at The Ohio State University College of Nursing and a family nurse practitioner at University Health Services. During my professional career, I have focused on the reproductive family as my primary interest, although the "graying” of the population (including me) has broadened my interest to the older generation as well. I'm a qualitative researcher with a special interest in spiritual well being and its influence on wellness and healing. My other passion is mentoring young practitioners. I am particularly interested in helping young professionals to improve their clinical acumen while remembering that our patients are people within unique environments and not just "cases." I currently work on a part-time basis at the University Health Connections as I want to maintain my clinical skills as well as work in the truly collaborative environment that clinic has as its conceptual framework.
