The Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center brings the community together to fight diabetes and improve overall health by holding special events throughout the year. These events help create awareness of how deadly diabetes really is (one of the top ten causes of death), and its impact on blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke and lower limb amputation. The DMRC also focuses on addressing the higher rate of diabetes among African Americans and Hispanics through its research and partnerships within these ethnic communities.
