About Me
I practice both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. I’m interested in complex abdominal wall reconstruction (hernia repair), the surgical treatment of migraine headaches, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breasts, chest wall reconstruction, body contouring, lower extremity reconstruction, and microsurgery.
What I enjoy about The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is how we take care of our patients. Working together, we try to solve problems using the latest techniques and technology. We approach each patient one at a time.
There’s no cookie-cutter approach, cookbook or recipe I follow. I sit down with patients and listen to their problems and concerns. I try to give them a result they’ll be happy with.
I spend the time to get to know my patients and appreciate their concerns. Then, I tell them whether I can reliably and predictably give them the results they want.
I treat my patients like they are my family. If it’s not good enough for my family, it’s not good enough for my patients.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Very positive experience. Preparing to undergo surgery can be stressful. Dr. Janis clearly recognizes this. He was informative, answered all questions, and I felt he sincerely wanted to put me at ease. I was very impressed with his concern regarding my future scheduled post-op visit. When he learned it had been scheduled with a physicians assistant instead of himself, he immediately asked his staff to look into correcting this. Within 24 hours, the appt was rescheduled to occur with him.I also ran into an insurance issue regarding one of the medications he prescribed. Again, within 24 hours the issue was addressed by him or his staff and resolved satisfactorily.
I was very impressed with him. He was very thorough and thoughtful.
