Overview of benefits and eligibility requirements

Contract and eligibility requirements
We appreciate the desire of applicants to review a sample contract as you evaluate your residency and fellowship options. Please review a sample contract and eligibility requirements to aid in your decision making process.
Please note that applicants for the Interventional Radiology-Integrated Residency are expected to complete an ACGME-approved clinical year. It is preferred that the clinical year be completed in a general surgery program or in a program in one of the surgical specialties.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center offers full medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance coverage. Professional liability insurance covers all patient care activity occurring within the scope of the training program.
Travel and vacation benefits
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides residents with a minimum of two weeks of paid vacation per year. The Department of Radiology, however, provides three weeks of vacation plus one week for Christmas/New Year's.
Residents are allowed one week of meeting attendance time per year. Additional time may be granted for oral presentation at a meeting. Third-year residents are given 10 days for fellowship interviews.
One week of meeting attendance time is reimbursed in the amount of $500 for either the first or second year of the residency. Scientific oral presentations will be reimbursed up to $1,000 per meeting. Residents are also allocated up to $500 in reimbursement to attend a board preparation course.
Sick and maternity benefits
Maternity and paternity leave
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides up to six weeks of paid maternity leave and three weeks of paid paternity leave. No moonlighting during maternity or paternity leave will be permitted. Residents should be aware that the amount of leave taken may affect their ability to meet the requirements of the applicable certifying board. Because the length of maternity or paternity leave may impact the amount of time allowed away from a training program by a certifying board, the program director may utilize vacation time, sick leave, personal days or conference leave to accomplish completion of the training requirements within the standard training period. The program director will attempt to obtain American Board of Radiology (ABR) approval whenever appropriate, however, the ABR decision is the final decision.
Our policy is in compliance with the institutional policy for sick leave. Radiology residents are considered full-time and accrue paid sick leave at a rate of 10 hours per month for a total of 120 hours per year.
