Being a part of our close knit team

As a resident at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, you will train at one of the nation’s largest public universities with a Medical Center that is among the largest and most diverse academic medical centers in the country. Ohio State is unique in that within this intense environment you will find that there is an incredibly friendly and collegial atmosphere: you will become part of a very close knit group of residents, fellows, and faculty members. The Department of Radiology strongly supports the wellness of its members not only in the day to day clinical operation and residency program, but also through planned and spontaneous social events. From Clippers baseball games to live music to end-of-rotation events, the department puts a premium on the overall satisfaction of its trainees and attendings. Please be sure to check out photographs of some of our events!

Discover all that Columbus has to offer

You probably don’t know it yet, but one thing you will discover when you arrive here is that Columbus is not only one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, it is an amazing place in which to live (just ask the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Director who grew up in Miami), as well as other faculty members who came to us from all over the country). Columbus is truly a pleasant surprise to its newest inhabitants!

There are tons of activities for everyone and always something to do. Here's just a teaser of all the fun things we have to offer:

The Schottenstein Center

The Schottenstein Center is on campus, and is the home of OSU Basketball and OSU Hockey, as well as numerous other sporting events. “The Schott” also hosts numerous concerts throughout the year.

Nationwide Arena

Nationwide Arena is the home of The Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL) and is a prime venue for numerous concerts and live shows throughout the year.

The Palace Theatre and the Ohio Theatre

Outstanding historic theatres, both home to concerts, comedy, and theatre, including Broadway musicals. Other venues in Columbus supporting live events include the Southern Theatre, the Davidson Theatre, and the Lincoln Theatre.

The Arts and Gallery District, "The Short North"

"The Short North" is home to numerous restaurants, breweries, bars, and gallery style art boutiques. Over the past ten years, the dining in Columbus, and particularly in the Short North, has evolved to the extent that we would put it up against the fine-dining scene in all but the very highest echelon of cities known for dining in the US. Ask any resident, fellow, or attending: Most of us have our “list” of the best of the best in Columbus!

The Arena District

Just like the Short North, the Arena District offers numerous restaurants and bars, and is home to Nationwide Arena (Blue Jackets Hockey) and Huntington Park (Columbus Clippers Baseball). The arena district is a short walk from downtown Columbus and the Short North.

Other neighborhoods worth exploring: downtown Worthington, Italian Village, Dublin, New Albany, and downtown Westerville.

Columbus's COSI Museum is a great attraction for families and children.

Love nature?

Hocking Hills Nature Park is just southeast of Columbus and is a beautiful place to hike, especially in the fall. Locally there are countless parks and recreational areas. The Scioto Audubon and the Olentangy Trail (extends from downtown Worthington in north Columbus to Downtown Columbus).

German Village

German Village is a historical neighborhood approximately 10 minutes south of the OSUWMC campus. A few of our residents and faculty members live here. To learn about historic sites, bars, restaurants, and ethnic markets, visit https://germanvillage.com

Shopping

If shopping is your thing, you will surely find what you are looking for at either Easton Town Center or Polaris Fashion Place. Numerous specialty stores are also found in Powell, the Short North, Worthington, Westerville, and Dublin.

Enjoy checking out all that Columbus has to offer!
