Meet Ohio State's team of collaborators, perfusionists and staff at COPPER Lab

The COPPER Laboratory at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center comprises an accomplished team of multidisciplinary collaborators and staff, all of whom are focused on contributing to novel research innovations for organ perfusion, organ protection, engineering and regeneration. Our team members are dedicated to the development of extended ex-vivo donor organ perfusion. This serves as a platform for organ assessment, repair and modification to improve organ transplant outcomes and increase the amount of useable organs from donors.

Curtis Dumond

Research assistant

Curtis Dumond is an undergraduate working on his Bachelors of Science in radiation therapy at The Ohio State University. He has been working at the COPPER lab for two years and has been managing the lab for the last year. During his time in the lab he has been working on the lung and liver perfusion models, helping to modify techniques of the lung and liver procurement surgeries and components of the circuit itself. He looks to finish his degree in 2017 while continuing research in ex-vivo lung and liver perfusion and transplantation.
