Dr. Rink’s laboratory is focused on neural and cerebrovascular adaptations that protect the brain from stroke injury. These adaptations include the formation and recruitment of collateral blood supply, leveraging endogenous glutamate metabolizing enzymes to mitigate neurotoxicity, and mechanisms of post-stroke neuroplasticity that facilitate recovery from stroke-induced loss of motor function.
