Keep access to your Ohio State doctors in your Medicare coverage

Beginning Jan. 1, 2016, all OPERS retirees age 65 and older were transitioned to a Medicare plan. If you have questions about the plan you selected, please contact OneExchange. You will also have the opportunity to select a different plan during open enrollment in 2016 from October 15 to December 7.

The following plans cover care at Ohio State:

  • Aetna Medicare Plan (PPO)
  • MedMutual Advantage Classic (HMO)
  • MedMutual Advantage Choice (HMO)
  • MedMutual Advantage Select (PPO)
  • MedMutual Advantage Preferred (PPO)
  • MedMutual Advantage Premium (PPO)

In addition, OPERS retirees with Traditional Medicare coverage with  Medigap are also covered for care at Ohio State.

OPERS Retirees Turning 65

All OPERS retirees who are not 65 yet, will make a plan selection through OneExchange during a seven month period beginning 3 months before turning 65, the birth month, and ending 3 months after the month in which a retiree turns 65.

There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a healthcare plan. To help you make an informed decision, we have developed a checklist that you can use during your OneExchange enrollment consultation, so you can be sure you have a plan that is affordable, follows you where you travel, and covers your Wexner Medical Center and James Cancer Hospital doctors at your lowest out-of-pocket cost.
