As a hospitalist, my specialty allows me to focus on caring for hospitalized patients in the Department of Internal Medicine. I love that my career allows me to combine my medical knowledge with my compassion for caring for others.
Individualized patient care is the key to successful health care and patient satisfaction. I practice medicine with this in mind, offering a humanistic approach to medicine. I am happy to be a part of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, which shares this viewpoint.
For me, working at Ohio State is very enjoyable. I am able to experience a collaborative, innovative and academic approach to medical care. As an alumna and native Ohioan, Ohio State will always hold a special place in my heart.
I like to spend my free time relaxing with my family, traveling, reading and enjoying the outdoors.

More about my work
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 03/25/2016, Dr. Nilakantan has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
