About Me
I am a medical oncologist specializing in thyroid, adrenocortical and neuroendocrine tumors. I received my medical degree from the NTR University of Health Sciences, Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, and my master’s in public health from the University of Texas. I am board certified in medical oncology and hematology.
As a member of the Translational Therapeutics Program at the OSUCCC – James, I focus my research on providing better treatment options to patients with endocrine-related cancers through clinical trials. I am the study chair of two multicenter, investigator-initiated trials for thyroid cancer patients sponsored by the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program, one of which I designed from its inception. I have also served as the institutional principal investigator on several cooperative group and industry-sponsored studies, and I am working with the ALLIANCE team to design a multicenter, investigator-initiated trial in adrenocortical cancer.
My work has been published in such peer-reviewed journals as Thyroid, Frontiers in Endocrinology, Journal of Oncology Practice, World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology and American Journal of Hematology. I am also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Thyroid Association and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
The James’ state-of-the-art facilities allow us to pursue cutting-edge research and apply it to our patients’ treatment plans. Our patients depend on us during one of the most difficult times in their lives, and The James gives us the resources to provide the best individualized care possible. At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Because Dr Konda was 3 hours late seeing me for my appointment, I was the last patient and the staff had left for the day so my next appointments had to be handled by mail.
