About Me

I am a pathologist specializing in gastrointestinal cancers, soft tissue cancers and gastrointestinal diseases. I am interested in novel GI injury patterns, including inflammatory bowel disease and mimics, infectious agents and emerging drug injuries. I am an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and serve as the chief of GI Pathology and the associate director of the GI Pathology Fellowship.

I received my medical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and I completed my fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. During my time at the Southwestern Medical Center, I served as chief resident of anatomic and clinic pathology. Currently, I serve on various committees, including the Abstract Review Board at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. In 2016, I was named one of the top 5 on the American Society of Clinical Pathologists list of 40 under Forty.

What I love most about working at the OSUCCC – James is the opportunity to learn from experienced and talented medical professionals. The James gives us access to cutting-edge research and technology, and together we provide our patients with an experienced team, exceptional treatment and targeted care.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 03/28/2017, Dr. Arnold has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
