About Me

I am a radiation oncologist specializing in genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancer. I received my Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Investigation at the University of Miami, and I completed my medical training at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. I am a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association of Cancer Research, and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. In addition, I serve as the site principal investigator for two national randomized trials, as well as on the NRG Genitourinary Cancer Core Committee.

As a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, my research focuses on disparities, particularly in the treatment of prostate and liver cancer. I am also interested in the combination of immunotherapy and radiation therapy in the treatment of gastrointestinal and genitourinary malignancies.

Recent projects include a study of the role of local therapy in patients with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma and outcomes of patients with unfavorable, intermediate-risk prostate cancer with different treatment modalities.

I’ve been published in numerous journals and books, and I have presented my research to organizations like the European Society of Radiation Oncology and the American Society for Radiation Oncology. That’s one of the great things about the OSUCCC – James; it gives medical professionals the opportunity to connect the most current research to the treatment plans of our patients.

What I love most about The James is our focus on targeted treatment plans. There is no routine cancer and each patient requires a specific treatment plan targeted to their specific type of cancer. We’re able to provide plans that best fit their needs, which leads to improved outcomes, faster responses and fewer side effects. Working at The James — where we focus on research and clinical care — makes me a better doctor every day, and I’m honored to be a part of this team.
