About Me

I am a tenured professor and neurosurgeon with specialty expertise in spine tumors at The Ohio State University Department of Neurological Surgery, where I direct the Neurosurgical Spine Program and serve as vice chair of clinical affairs.

I also am clinical director of the Spine Research Institute at Ohio State. In addition, I hold the Justine Skestos Chair in Minimally Invasive Neurological Spinal Surgery and serve as director of spinal oncology at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

My dedication to medical research led me to establish the first accredited complex and oncological spine fellowship program at Ohio State. I have published over 25 book chapters and more than 100 articles in prestigious scientific journals. I also have contributed to many peer-reviewed reference works, and I regularly lecture on spinal tumor-related topics around the world. I am the current president of The Ohio State Neurological Society.

At The James, I am proud to be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians who translate groundbreaking cancer research into innovative patient care. Through my work I have earned numerous awards and honors, including induction into the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, selection as a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and inclusion on the Castle Connolly List of America’s Top Doctors. I have been listed among the Best Doctors in America® every year since joining Ohio State’s medical faculty in 2006.
