About MeAs a hematologist, I focus on treating bleeding and clotting disorders, sickle cell anemia, myeloproliferative disease, hairy cell leukemia and multiple myeloma. At The Ohio State University I’m a professor of internal medicine, and serve as director of benign hematology. Previously I served as chief of staff at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
I’ve been a principal or co-principal investigator on 78 research studies and clinical trials dealing with such conditions as hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, leukemia and bleeding disorders. I have authored or co-authored more than 200 articles and abstracts for publication in pertinent medical journals such as the American Journal of Hematology and Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology. Additionally, I’ve presented my findings with colleagues and students at meetings all over the world. By sharing our knowledge with each other, advancements and breakthroughs can happen faster.
At The James, we take a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. I collaborate with my colleagues and others to come up with individualized treatment plans for our patients. We are constantly working toward the best outcomes and greatest quality of life for every patient we see.
I’m extremely proud to practice alongside some of the world's foremost experts at such a preeminent comprehensive cancer center. Together we are all focused on one goal – giving the best possible care to our patients while working toward a cure.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 03/28/2017, Dr. Kraut has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
