I specialize in diagnosing and caring for the psychiatric needs of chronically ill children, adolescents and their families. I have a particular interest in individuals who have pediatric illnesses, but are surviving well into adulthood and facing unique challenges during transition periods in their lives and medical care.

By understanding the personal, family and work aspects of my patients lives, I am better able to partner with them to provide care that enhances their overall wellness. I devote particular attention to the role their unique health issues play in their daily lives and strive to provide the quality of care that I desire for my own family members.

My research and academic interests include:

• Psychiatric needs of medically ill children, adolescents and their families
• Psychiatric and medical issues in the transition to adulthood (individuals with pediatric illnesses surviving into adulthood)
• Bioethics (the relationship between ethics and medicine)
• Religion, spirituality and culture in medicine and psychiatry
• Medical and psychiatric needs of clergy and other religious professionals

I have considerable experience in non-medical settings, especially various religious and cultural communities. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the fullness of patients lives, and of the important role that connections to other individuals and organizations play in achieving and maintaining health and fulfillment.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies, etc. because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 03/25/2016, Dr. Dell has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies, etc. If you have questions about how these relationships are monitored by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, please contact our Compliance Office at 614-293-7802.
