About MeAs a urologist at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center, I believe that medical care should be unique for each patient. When it comes to a cancer diagnosis, every person has different medical, emotional and spiritual needs. I think it's important to listen to all the concerns a patient may have. I believe in presenting patients with all available options for their treatment, including the risks and benefits, so that they can choose how to proceed.
I chose to pursue additional training in urologic oncology so I could apply my knowledge of cancer biology to patient care. I am passionate about caring for each person and developing lifelong patient-physician relationships.
Working at Ohio State gives me the opportunity to work at a world-class comprehensive cancer center and be on a multidisciplinary team with top physicians and researchers. My patients have access to outstanding cancer research and discoveries.
In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, travel, run and enjoy the outdoors.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 03/28/2017, Dr. Merrill has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
