About Me
I decided to become a radiation oncologist because I’m passionate about doing all I can to help cure cancer and to relieve patients’ suffering. In my role at the OSUCCC – James, I specialize in using radiotherapy (RT) to treat breast cancer and genito-urinary (GU) malignancies such as prostate and bladder cancers.
There is no routine cancer, and every patient is unique. My approach emphasizes meeting my patients where they are, which begins with ensuring that they fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options. My patients can rely on me for emotional support because I believe that as cancer doctors, our job extends beyond offering effective treatment. I am here to listen to their fears, to offer comfort and to help them navigate the many ways in which cancer has affected their lives.
More than 50% of cancer patients receive radiation as part of their treatment, and I am proud to be part of the innovative field of oncology. Radiation oncology has evolved significantly over the past several years, with advanced techniques that target tumors more precisely and allow for highly personalized treatment plans.
In addition to my clinical work, I am involved in clinical research and help enroll patients in clinical trials, which we know are critical in giving our patients the best treatment options and in advancing the field of oncology. My research interests include strategies to improve outcomes for breast and prostate cancer patients, cancer survivorship and enhancing care for underserved populations.
The James and the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center are truly special places, and it is inspiring to work alongside exceptionally skilled and dedicated colleagues. Our providers offer the most advanced techniques and share a passion for excellent patient care. I am also grateful for the array of supportive services that we can offer our patients, including on-site nutrition, social work, counseling and psychiatry, and specialists who treat side effects like lymphedema.
I am a member of multiple national organizations including the American Society of Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/29/2023, Dr. Young has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
