I’m a medical oncologist who specializes in treating several types of solid tumor, but I have a special interest in treating patients with breast cancer. Serving as a bridge between the OSUCCC – James and Madison Health (an affiliate of the OSU/Mount Carmel Health Alliance) in London, Ohio. I help bring the most recent science-based advances in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics to patients in this area. In 2015 I was rated among the top 10 percent of physicians in the nation for patient satisfaction.

My strong professional rapport with patients is fortified by my years of extensive training in oncology. After earning my medical degree at Pune University in India, I served my residency in internal medicine at Wright State University, where I worked with a diverse patientpopulation across four different hospitals. I also was appointed as chief resident in 2009-10 and won a Wright State University Special Award in Academic Excellence. I was inducted into the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha in 2009. Following my residency, I completed a three-year fellowship in hematology/oncology at Wright State before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University College of Medicine as an assistant professor-clinical in the Department of Internal Medicine, divisions of Medical Oncology and Hematology.

As a medical researcher, I also participate in multiple clinical trials that are investigating different therapies to treat breast, gastrointestinal and hematologic cancers. I have co-authored research articles in scientific journals and delivered scholarly presentations at the national, regional and local levels. At the OSUCCC – James, we personalize patient care by studying each patient’s biologically unique cancer at the molecular level and using this knowledge to devise an optimal course of precisely tailored treatment. Our multidisciplinary approach is enhanced by the latest technology, knowledge and resources that are at our disposal as we work to create a cancer-free world.

Industry Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 03/25/2016, Dr. Dewani has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
