Rather than telling my patients what they need, I prefer to work with them to develop a more personalized approach to their treatment. I want them to know it’s okay to take small steps over a period of time in order to achieve what may seem like an unattainable goal.
I enjoy working at The Ohio State University because this is where I received both my undergraduate and medical degree. I feel at home here, and I’m happy to be part of the Ohio State family.
When I’m not with patients, I like to read, relax with my family, travel, watch movies and enjoy the outdoors. My husband, a pediatrician at The Ohio State University, is involved in creating part of the curriculum for Ohio State’s medical students. We both love working here at Ohio State!

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 03/25/2016, Dr. Fernandes has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
