I’m a radiation oncologist specializing in head and neck cancers. These types of cancer require treatment that affects a very visible part of the body, and patients need a lot of physical and emotional support during their treatment. In 2014, I was rated in the top 10 percent of physicians in the nation for patient satisfaction.

Here at The James, care is provided by a multidisciplinary treatment team that often includes a radiation oncologist, head and neck surgeon, medical oncologist and speech and language pathologist. We collaborate closely to give the patient the best possible outcome.

What I love about The James is working with these very passionate and committed team members. Nearly everyone has been personally touched by cancer through a family member or friend. We have a vested interest in learning how to best treat and eventually eradiate all kinds of cancer.

I serve as an assistant professor in Ohio State’s department of radiation oncology. I’m a member on the Institutional Review Board, the Radiation Oncology Clinical Operations Committee and the Physician Faculty Engagement Committee. I’m also the institutional primary investigator on clinical trials through the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. My research has been published in several journals and books.

Industry Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 03/25/2016, Dr. Diavolitsis has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
