Research Interests:
• Tissue injury and repair (skin, brain and heart)
• miRNA biology
• Redox signaling
• Tissue oxygenation
• Oxidant

Current Research: In the skin, the Sen group works on wound healing – both experimentally as well as clinically. In the brain, specific focus is directed toward stroke biology and related neurodegeneration. The Sen group has identified the alpha-tocotrienol form of vitamin E as a major protector against stroke-induced injury to the brain.

In the heart, emphasis is on post-infarction myocardial remodeling with emphasis on miRNA biology.

Across all of these programs, the Sen groups uses advanced MRI, echocardiographic as well hyperspectral imaging approaches.

Active Funding: He is the PI on two active NIH awards: one from the NIGMS on wound healing and the other from NINDS on vitamin E. In addition, he holds an R13 award from NIH-NIAMS.
