Assistant Professor, Neurology
Background: Dr. Hannawi earned his medical degree from the University of Tishreen in 2006. Following an Adult Neurology residency at Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in Neurocritical Care at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Hannawi was appointed to the faculty of The Ohio State University Department of Neurology in 2015, where he currently holds the title of assistant professor.
Dr. Hannawi is board certified in neurology (American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology).
General Research: Dr. Hannawi is currently involved in many research studies that utilize advanced neuroimaging techniques including Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and functional MRI (fMRI) to track the recovery of consciousness and cognition following brain injury. In addition, he studies neuroimaging biomarkers of small vessel disease of the brain and the use of eye movements as a surrogate for brain functional status.
