Yale University School of Medicine, Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Neurosurgery
Michael Apuzzo, MD, is one of the world’s best known and respected academic neurosurgeons. Over a four-decade period his ideas and contributions have revolutionized the practice of neurosurgery and created a foundation for the future. Focusing on cerebral surgery he has emphasized interdisciplinary fertilization and innovative aspects of advancement of technology. He served as deep sea diving and medical officer on advanced nuclear powered fleet ballistic missile submarines during the cold war. For more that 40-years, he served as principle neurological consultant to the USC Trojan Athletic Department and for 20-years he was team neurosurgeon for the New York Football Giants. He acted as principle neurological consultant to the National Football League and two of the Commissioners. Currently, he has formal professorial appointments at USC, Yale and OSU.
