We look forward to meeting each qualified candidate who applies to the Neurology Residency Program at Ohio State’s Neurological Institute.

We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), so please contact your medical school for instructions about the application process. We will not accept paper applications.

Your ERAS application is only considered complete with three letters of recommendation, the Dean’s letter and your USMLE (U.S. Medical Licensing Examination) scores.

International Medical Graduates

International medical graduates (IMGs) may apply through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) as well as the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). International applicants must have a valid ECFMG certificate and must be eligible for ECFMG sponsorship for the J-1 Visa as an exchange visitor for the entire program. We do not sponsor H-1B visas for graduates of international medical schools seeking residency training.

Although there are no set rules on invitations to interview for IMGs, all candidates are compared with the current pool of applicants to evaluate eligibility. We consider these to be desirable:

  • Application within five years of graduation from medical school
  • No prior PGY1 experience
  • At least one month of formal U.S. inpatient clinical experience
  • Two letters of recommendation from U.S. physicians familiar with your clinical skills
  • Excellent scores on USMLE Step 1 and Step 2

Interview Day by Invitation

We conduct interviews for Neurology residents from October to January mostly on Mondays and some Fridays. Our program director reviews the latest ERAS applications and sends interview invitations to selected applicants.

To provide equal opportunities and reduce financial burdens associated with interview travels on the applicants, we only offer online/virtual interviews. We do not offer in-person “second” visit.
