What is the purpose of this study?

This study will look at how partners adjust to the birth of a new baby including life stress, mood, relationship quality and health behaviors. We will also look at how changes in these areas relate to the health and well-being of the woman who delivered the baby.

What does this study involve?

Each partner will complete three phone interviews lasting approximately 30 minutes each. Phone interviews will occur during the third trimester, four to six weeks after your partner’s delivery, and four months after your partner’s delivery. 

Each phone interview will include answering questions about life stress, health behaviors, mood and social support. As part of this study, your partner will also complete questionnaires and interview measures. Your partner’s responses will not be shared with you, and your responses will not be shared with your partner.

Who is eligible?

Partners (male or female) of participating pregnant women are eligible to participate.

Is there any compensation?

You will be paid $15 at visit one, $20 at visit two, and $25 at visit three. That is a total of $60 if you complete all aspects of the study.
