Kristy Townsend, PhD holds a doctorate in Neuroscience from Boston University and has been investigating how the nervous system regulates energy balance and metabolism since 2003. Townsend was a postdoctoral fellow at King's College London, and then at Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard Medical School, where she was promoted to Instructor in Medicine. In 2014, Townsend moved to University of Maine as Assistant Professor of Neurobiology and was tenured in 2019. In 2020, Townsend moved to OSU's Department of Neurosurgery as Associate Professor with Tenure. Townsend is also Chief Scientific Officer of Neuright, Inc., a start-up academic spin-off developing a novel medical device for early detection of peripheral neuropathy.
