About Me
As a hepatologist, I manage patients with various liver diseases due to alcohol abuse as well as hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. One of my other areas of clinical interest is the emerging problem of fatty liver disease and its associated complications. I especially enjoy managing the care of patients following liver transplants.
I work to provide my patients with individualized and passionate care. I believe that care should be provided with empathy and in a humble manner. I also believe in treating my patients as if they were my own brother, sister or parent.
I have experience working in many diverse health care systems in various parts of the world. There hasn’t been any place, however, that can compare to Ohio State’s diversity of health care and culture, as well as its friendly and good-natured atmosphere.
When I’m not working I like to spend my free time playing cricket, traveling, reading, watching movies, enjoying the outdoors and relaxing with my family.

I really liked that at the end of my visit he repeated everything he had said and asked several times if I understood or had any questions about what he said.

It was great to have a doctor visit where I didn't feel I was being rushed. It also struck me that he covered EVERYTHING regarding my health issues, even those treatments that weren't likely but were also possible.

The best
We had two interns performed exam, asked questions, prepared for doctor. Met with doctor and interns afterwards to continue. It's great to permit students to do this. We need this for our future. Doctor spoke with me in depth about condition, possible outcomes, how to live a healthier life. He gave me hope.

Dr. Mumtaz has always been informative and a good listener. He has taught me many things about liver disease.
I have been to every hospital in Columbus numerous times. Dr. Mumtez is who I chose that I wanted to keep from my transplant doctors. He always had the patience with my hundreds of questions. He didn't pull any punches, explained everything in a manor that I could understand. His quiet direct manor helped me be less stressed frightened before I had my transplants. Footnote - Dr. Mumtez had a resident named Dr. Lightfoot that was amazing. She was who influenced me into getting transplants.
