About Me

As a physiatrist, I specialize in movement of the body, with particular expertise in the functions of the nerves and muscles (which create motion). This interest grew out of my college studies in biomedical engineering, where I was introduced to biomechanics. It’s very rewarding to me to help people improve their ability to carry out activities by moving better, having less pain and generally improve their quality of life.

I will listen carefully to your goals for our work together, including what difficulty you have and what sort of changes you have imagined for improvement. Whether that is walking, pushing a wheelchair, having less pain or returning to work, I’ll work with you and with other members of the rehab team at Ohio State to achieve those objectives.

I perform EMG (electromyography and nerve conduction) testing. These are measurements of the electrical signals made by the nerves and muscles. Many problems of pain, numbness and weakness can be better diagnosed, understood and treated through the use of this testing.

I also treat problems of spasticity such as can occur after a stroke or in those with cerebral palsy. In addition to medications and physical therapy, I often use botulinum toxins (Botox and other brands) as treatment for spasticity.

At Ohio State, I’m surrounded by a great team of fellow physicians, therapists and nurses. I’m encouraged to practice high-quality medicine and to always stay curious and keep learning.

In my free time, I enjoy golf and time with my family. I like to read novels and some history and do crossword puzzles.
