Faculty Positions

The Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) and Center for Biostatistics (CFB) at The Ohio State University (Ohio State) currently have opportunities for open-rank faculty at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels with research interests related to biostatistics. We are specifically seeking candidates with experience and interests in population sciences, clinical trials, Bayesian statistics, causal inference, statistical learning, high-dimensional data and/or electronic medical records.

Tenure-Track Faculty: Successful candidates will maintain an active research program in biostatistical methodology, collaborate with investigators across the health sciences campus, teach courses within our graduate programs and mentor graduate students.

Clinical-Track Faculty: Successful candidates will work as part of a collaborative team with investigators across the health sciences campus to develop grant proposals and design studies for clinical trials, large cohorts and high-throughput ‘omics that make efficient use of biomedical data to test scientific hypotheses and help shape medical practice. Opportunities to develop biostatistical methodology, teach courses within our graduate programs and mentor graduate students are available and encouraged.

As part of the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC), the Department of Biomedical Informatics and the Center for Biostatistics provide an academic home for informatics and biostatistics research, development and training at Ohio State. Faculty interests span multiple domains including: biostatistics and population health; artificial intelligence and machine learning; clinical informatics and health services research; bioinformatics and computational biology; and data coordination and informatics databases. BMI and CFB faculty have ongoing collaborations with faculty in departments throughout the University and internationally. Ohio State is one of the nation’s largest integrated health sciences campuses, with access to a CTSA-funded Center for Clinical and Translational Science and new, state-of-the-art 1 million square foot, NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Faculty and staff in BMI can leverage an advanced information systems environment including inpatient and outpatient electronic health records, data warehousing platforms and a variety of enterprise research information systems. Through a partnership with the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), BMI faculty have access to high-performance computing and data management facilities for both clinical and bio-molecular data.

Applications: The successful applicant will have a PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or related discipline with evidence of biostatistics research. Please submit a cover letter, CV, Research Statement and Teaching Statement with your application. In the cover letter, please indicate your preferred track. Any questions can be directed to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Guy Brock. Evaluation of applications is underway and will continue until positions are filled.
