Our Chief Residents
Daniel Schmitz, MD
A native of California, I was drawn to Ohio State by the outstanding training offered at two nationally-recognized tertiary care centers. But I quickly found that the large, supportive, fun-loving med-peds family sets OSU apart. As one of the country’s larger programs, OSU welcomes you with an abundance of wonderful people ready to offer career mentorship, to lend a hand during a long day on the wards, or to join you for the cookout afterwards. The guidance, support, and clinical experience here has left me excited for a career in combined primary care. Outside of work, you can find me running one of the many beautiful parks and trails in Columbus and following it up with a visit to one of the great local restaurants or breweries. Aisha and I and our residents are excited to welcome new members of the OSU med-peds family – contact us any time!
Aisha White, MD
I am from Tennessee (born & raised) but am SO happy that I ventured out of my home state to train at OSU/NCH! I knew on interview day that these were “my people” and I could see myself at this program. My co-residents both within MedPeds and on the categorical sides have become like family. In addition to the two large academic centers, we have a phenomenal resident clinic that has played a huge role in inspiring me to pursue primary care as a career. To me, Columbus is the perfect size city – there is plenty to explore without ever having to worry about big city traffic. In my free time, you can usually catch me at a new restaurant or brewery with my husband and co-residents, or spending time with my doggy.
