My lab performs basic and translational research to better understand host immunity to mycobacterial pathogens—specifically, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) and Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM)—using animal models of TB and NTM infection, as well as immune profiling of tissues donated by individuals affected by these pathogens. In addition to my research efforts, I also teach as part of the undergraduate, graduate and medical curricula, and serve as Associate Director the OSU BSL3 facility.
My lab’s response to COVID-19
As all Americans have experienced, my staff and I were floored by the rapid progression of COVID-19, which has resulted in the death of over 20K Ohioans, 600K Americans, and 4M individuals worldwide. As part of the OSU response to COVID-19, my lab continues to work with a number of basic and clinical scientists, physicians, and engineer partners on projects related to COVID-19 surveillance, therapy and disinfection. These projects are ongoing, and we encourage all individuals to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
